Jupiter Lodge

Guest House and 3 Story Barn

Sited on the crest of Washington Hill facing west towards Chocorua Lake with Mount Chocorua rising to the east, this spectacular 63-acre property is accessed by a long drive leading to a thoroughly restored home, one of the original Chocorua summer colony cottages.

Constructed 1910-1911, Juniper Lodge was designed by noted architect Ernest Machado and has many characteristics of a Craftsman-style Bungalow including deep roof overhang with exposed rafter heads, second-story window bays supported by curved brackets, front and back eyebrow dormers, and original diamond paned leaded French windows. The current owners have thoroughly restored the home and brought it back to its original glory including restoring the homes original exterior color scheme, a mix of green and blue blending to the color of the Juniper plant for which the lodge was named. The house has 4 bedrooms, 3 of which are en-suite, a large kitchen and butler’s pantry, dining room with fireplace, sunroom, and a grand living room with an arched beamed ceiling, huge stone fireplace and a large window designed to frame Mt. Chocorua.

Directly adjacent to the house is a 4-car garage with a heated gym above and a greenhouse attached to the backside of the garage. The view side of the house has a naturalized, heated pool.

In addition to restoring the main house, important additions to the property include a charming guest house and a beautiful three-story barn. The year-round guest home has two en-suite bedrooms (one on the first floor and one on the second) a great room with fireplace, a charming kitchen, a screened porch, and a two-car garage. The three-story heated barn was designed to match the architectural details of the Lodge. Drive around to the back to access the 5 bay lower level with plenty of storage, workshop space and a half bath. The main level is post and beam and carefully crafted from fir with fine finish detail and includes a half bath and laundry. The third level is an apartment with its own kitchen, living area and bedroom.

Nestled between the White Mountains and the lakes regions, just 15 miles from North Conway, Tamworth/Chocorua is a vibrant community with a rich cultural history that began in the late 1800’s. All the best recreation that NH has to offer is at the doorstep of this property.
